MAJOR FOODIE: Ghenne's Coffee

As you have prolly known through my previous post, we've tried a local cafe along Marcos Hi-way last Sunday. It is located inside Yang Chow restaurant and is called Ghenne's Coffee.

It was my fifth time to dine at Yang Chow last Sunday - I've eaten there with family and with friends from high school and friends from college in these five times - and, needless to say, the food was great. I'll be posting a more detailed review soon. ;)

The place. Ghenne's Coffee is as cozy as a cafe can get. The interiors and the ambience is at par with Yang Chow's. Here are the photos I took.

One thing that (kinda) turned me off was the chairs. They're less comfy than the ones of most, if not all, of the cafes I've been to. Here's hoping they improve their chairs - adding couches will definitely make this cafe the perfect hangout place!

Come on! Who'd sit comfortably in these chairs??

The food. We went there after eating at Yang Chow, so obviously I was full that time. I just opted for iced Ceylon tea and red velvet cake (because the only chocolate cake available then had nuts - eek!).

My iced Ceylon tea

It was my first Ceylon tea ever, and I was a bit surprised by how sour it was. But it's a "good" sour taste to me, and I loved the tea. :)

FUN FACT: Ceylon tea is being marketed in Sri Lanka as an aphrodisiac. Now, that explains why I felt a bit odd last Sunday. Haha! JK :D

Let's move on to the red velvet cake review before I say any more inappropriate things. Haha!

Hmmm. The cake was . . . not okay. At all. The filling/icing/frosting was a bit sour it made me wonder if it's nearing its expiration date.

The cake bread/chiffon was dry, and I prefer my pastries (cakes, brownies, cupcakes) a bit moist. So it's really a thumbs down on this one. Sorry, Ghenne's Coffee! :/

Star rating. 4 out of 5 stars. Very nice ambiance, very relaxing. Nice tea. But the cake we ordered was a letdown for me.

Would I revisit? Yes. I'd love to try the other refreshments and pastries they offer. :)

Don't they look yummy? :) Though the Red Velvet Cake has a huge red X on it. Haha!

Ghenne's Coffee is located along Marcos Hi-way, Antipolo City (east-bound). Beside Kingsville Subdvision. Near SM City Masinag. They also have a branch in Quezon City at Shopwise, E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, Libis.
